ABOUT US

Amanda was an incredible individual. She would light up a room as she walked in and had such an outgoing personality. Amanda was a kind person and a gifted, competitive athlete.

In March 2009, Amanda began experiencing pains in her abdomen. After many doctor appointments, she was diagnosed with cancer, stage IV rhabdomyosarcoma. She took this challenge of cancer ready to fight. Amanda endured 14 rounds of chemo and 30 rounds of radiation.

In January 2010, Amanda was cancer free! But the joy was short lived. Amanda's cancer returned in her spinal cord and eventually coated her brain. On April 9th, 2010 Amanda went to heaven.

After Amanda's passing, her parents, Barbara and Steve began the Amanda Riley Foundation in honor of their daughter. The Foundation is focused on bringing smiles to children battling cancer.

After Amanda's passing, I enrolled at Wofford College. I wanted to do something on Wofford's campus to teach everyone about Amanda and the importance of educating the public about childhood cancer.

The fall of 2011, I individually organized the Jingle Bell Jog benefitting the Amanda Riley Foundation. The race was a great success and encouraged me to continue spreading Amanda's story. In the spring of 2012, I presented an small exhibit of artwork made by children sponsored by the Foundation. The community was able to send letters to the children with words of encouragment.

In the fall of 2012 and 2013, I held the Jingle Bell Jog on Wofford College's campus. Through the years, participation has increased exponentially with the Spartanburg chapter of Girls On The Run participating in the 2013 race. In three years, the Jog has raised over $4000 for the Foundation and children battling cancer!

Sign up today for the 2014 Jingle Bell Jog to spread Amanda's story and help children battling cancer.
